Where is a good place to practice bushcraft in the bay area?

I'm looking to start practicing primitive bushcraft skills in my area. I live in San Ramon and I'm trying to find a good place to begin. Please consider that I'll be using small fires for my projects so it needs to be a place that would be ok to have

Most of the local parks and state forests near you regulate access and where you can build fires, any picnic area or campground with a BBQ or fire ring can be used to practice your skills and the closest to you, that I know has camping, is Mt. Diablo

Outdoor education centre to offer packed programme

UPTON Warren’s Outdoor Education Centre is running a packed programme of activities this winter.

From bushcraft and survival skills, archery and climbing, to canoeing and kayaking - families can take part in a range of activities from as little as £7.50 per session at the Worcestershire County Council site between Bromsgrove and Droitwich Spa.

Head of the centre, Phil Ascough, said: "Keeping young people entertained during the winter months can sometimes be challenging. Parents can leave their children with our experienced staff for a couple of hours, or they can stay and watch, or even better, have a go themselves."

Upton Warren is holding activities over the last weekends in January, February and March. All sessions are dependent on numbers so advance booking is essential.

Call Upton Warren’s centre on 01527 861426 to book or to find out more.

Worcestershire County Council's three outdoor education centres, Upton Warren, Malvern Hills and Llanrug in North Wales, offer a huge range of activities for school and youth groups, individuals, families and organisations looking for team-building opportunities.
